ELÁN  -  EBULLIENCE - SCHWUNG- ÉLAN - VITACITA - ЭНТУЗИАЗМ- ENTUSIASMO

this is the name of slovak pop-music group, that is well known not only in former Czechoslovakia and in neighbouring countrys... this summer they had performance in  v Carnegie Hall in  New Yourk....


About Elan

They started just like other school bands of the communist era. The band was put together by Vašo Patejdl, who did not even know the band was to become a legend. They used to play in clubs and on local stages in early and mid-seventies. Then came the first breakthrough with a song called “Kaskadér” that hit the first rank in “Bratislavská lyra“ contest. The band’s popularity started to rise immediately. With their hits on the radio and on the TV, one success was following the other. Their songs dominated the top positions in all pop-music charts. The band’s albums became blockbusters that actually broke all the sales records in former Czechoslovakia. Four times during the eighties, the band has won the highest pop-music award “Zlaty Slavik”. With no difference between the kids and adults, the hits performed by Elán are well known to the listeners of all ages. Their melodies and lyrics have become widely popular, so that everybody knows them.

Then suddenly, Jožo Ráž has suffered a serious motorbike crash, as he was hit by a slack car driver. This was a fatal turnover for Jožo himself, but also for the band and of course for the hundreds of thousands of fans in both Slovakia and Czech Republic. The crowds of people were praying for Jožo’s healing. And then the miracle came. Finally, after a longer break, Jožo and Elán made it back to stage.

Niečo  o Eláne:
Začínali tradične, ako väčšina školských partičiek v tej dobe. Spolu ich dával Vašo Patejdl a vtedy nič netušiac stál pri zrode legendy. V 70. rokoch hrali po rôzných kluboch a rôzných zábavach. Potom prišiel prvý úspech s piesňou Kaskadér, ktorá zabodovala na Bratislavskej lyre. Tak sa postupne zviditeľnili a zrazu boli ich piesne v éteri. Strmý vzostup a jeden úspech za druhým, jedna doska nasledovala za druhou a trhali rekordy v prodajností. Štyria Zlatí Slavíci ozdobily skupinu v 80. rokoch. Hity Elánu takmer zľudoveli a ich slova všetci dobre poznajú.

Osudovým zlomom pre všetkých, osobným aj profesionálným bola nehoda Joža Ráža. Jeho milovaná motorka sa stretla s osobným automobilom nepozorného vodiča. Davy ľudí v obou republikách prežívali Jožov úraz a prosili za jeho uzdravenie. Stalo se. Návrat Elánu a Joža Ráže na pódia je mnohými považováný za zázrak.

MY HOME-CITY -KOŠICE- CASSOVIA

Košice – is the metropolis of Eastern Slovakia and the second largest town of the Slovak Republic.

The town has a rich and famous past, which left jewels of architecture. After extensive reconstruction work the historic downtown, which is the largest urban monument reserve on Slovakia, has become the object of pride not only for Košičans but for all of Slovakia. To the recreational area belong the park at the Immaculata and the park of the Singing fountain - both popular places for inhabitants and visitors alike. Especially the later takes pride in its uniqueness.

Places of Interest

The Singing fountain and the chimes are a real attraction: The fountain as able simultaneously to react to its own music, to the sound of the chimes and to the music transmitted from the nearby theatre. This musical play makes a stay in the park truly rewarding and also accompanies a walk around the Urban tower, the cathedral St. Elisabeth - with the chapel St. Michael - and the streets around the Golden Cross in downtown.

Košice is distinguished by exciting cultural, social and sports events. Among the most important events are the Košice Spring of Music, the promenade concerts during the Košice Summer of Culture, the Festival of Sacred Music, the international contest of water-ski, the International Peace Marathon, wine festivals and others.

Besides these events there are cultural experiences offered by four theatres, museums, art galleries, cinemas and cultural-social centers during all year round. Among the most important social events belongs without doubt the celebration Day of Košice, which has become a tradition and receives also attention from abroad: On the 7th May 1369 Košice received as the first town in Europe the deed with the coat-of-arms.

The Košičans consider it an honour to contribute to the celebrations during the anual commemoration. May has become the month to present the most interesting events in the life of enterprises, institutionsand associations. At the end of the year, the wonderful decoration of the town during the Košice Christmas has become already a legend: there is a Christmas market at the main road with an almost three weeks lasting cultural program, creating a fantastic Christmas atmosphere!
The rich cultural, social and sports life and the famous hospitality, the religious and ethnic tolerance of the Košičans receive from visitors positive response. The city has become a favourite destination for statesmen, diplomates and other important persons, their names are immortalized on the pavement of the historic downtown.
