The Golden Treasure of Košice

The treasure of Košice as a collective finding of the old golden coins belongs among the largest ones of the world. Its importance is multiplied by the fact that in spite of different complications it hasn't been overtaken by the destiny of other big treasures that have been repeatedly re-coined.

The coins that it contains, create a wide range of the acunation produced by 81 european mints of 15th - 17th century. The chromatic destiny of this treasure has begun markedly in the time of its secretion, what according to the era of the youngest coin stamped in Kremnica in a year 1679 can be dated approximately to the years 1680 - 1682, when Košice standing on the side of the emperor, was in a year 1682 occupied by the leader of anti-habsburg rebellion - Imrich Thököli.

As in other cases, also here the reason was a scare about the property in the uncertain military-political situation. Content of the treasure indicates that the primary owner was the emporer's sympathiser (missing Michal Apafi's coinage from Sedmohradsko who arrived to help Thököli in a year 1681 as well as the coinage of the french monarch Ľudovít XIV. who had the interest to encourage the rebels) and very rich person, a specialist in a finance matters.

17th century was the period of the economic colapse caused by the 30-years' war, anti-turkish wars, as well as the actions of rebellious princes of Sedmohradsko. Former owner of the treasure probably hasn't trusted in existing currency represented by big silver coin - taler, and its own, no small property invested into a golden, by the time checked coin, even into the safest one, e.g. Netherland's coin, that was already about 100 year stamped from the gold of the American continent.

After approximately 250 years of the rest under the pavement of the house cellar on Main Street No. 68, exactly on August 24th, 1935 when the workers of the A. Novák's building company of Košice were digging the foundations of a new building of the finance head office, the treasure has really stunned its finders. They wanted to appropriate illegaly a part of the treasure, thereby they got rid themselves of the claim for the reward what at that time denoted approximately 1/3 of the finding value.

What does the treasure cosist of:

It includes the complex of 2920 pcs of golden coins, mostly ducates, double-ducates, three golden medals and a golden renaissance chain. The box that was the shelter of this unique treasure, is a copper, round, with the shape of two meshed together bowls, on its cover it is ornated with the engraved decoration of the hunting scene. The golden renaissance chain 2,14  m long with the weight of 590 grams consists of the oval links, which both sides are longitudinal split by two grooves. Medals come from the mint of Kremnica. The first one is a work of some unknown master for the king Ľudovít from a year 1525, the second one for the king Ferdinand I. from a year 1541 is a work of Krištof Füssl and the third one for the king Ľudovít II. is also attributed to K. Füssl. Dominating part of the treasure is created by the coins. Except one piece of the antique Tracia coin, the late stater of Lysimach (323 - 281 BCE) or its perfect Celtic imitation, that with its time classification doesn't fit into the complex ilustrating nearly three centuries of the european acunation, the finding can be divided into three basic circuits:
1. Ugria and Sedmohradsko (Transylvania)
2. The Netherlands (provinces and cities)
3. Other european countries: Bohemia, Silesia, Austria, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Italy, Spain.

Tvorí ho komplex 2920 kusov zlatých mincí, väčšinou dukátov, dvojdukátov, tri zlaté medaily a zlatá renesančná reťaz.

1. Uhorsko a Sedmohradsko
2. Holandsko (provincie a mestá)
3. Ostatné európske štáty Čechy, Sliezko, Rakúsko, Nemecko, Poľsko, Švédsko, Taliansko, Španielsko.

Sand and Stone

Two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE."

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one, who had been slapped, got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After the friend recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE."

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?"

The other friend replied: "When someone hurts us, we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."

LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND, AND TO CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE !!!

PIESOK A KAMEŇ

Dotyčný, ktorému bolo ublížené bez toho aby čokoľvek povedal sa zohol, a napísal prstom do piesku: „ DNES MI MOJ NAJLEPŠÍ PRIATEĽ DAL FACKU“.
Priateľ sa ho spýtal: „ Keď som ti dal facku, napísal si to iba do piesku a teraz si to vytesal do kameňa. Prečo?“
Ten mu odpovedal: „ Vieš keď mi niekdo ublíži, píšem to iba do piesku, aby vietor tieto riadky odfúkl na znak odpustenia. Ale keď mi niekto pomôže, vytesám to do kameňa, aby to tam ostalo napísané na veky.“

Naučme sa svoj žial a krivdy písať iba do piesku a svoje šťastie vytesávať do kameňa!

U2- With or without you

S Tebou alebo bez Teba -
Vidím kameň v Tvojich očiach - See the stone set in your eyes
Vidím tŕň na Tvojom boku - See the thorn twist in your side
Čakám na Teba - I wait for you

Trik rúk a vírenie osudu - Sleight of hand and twist of fate
Na lóži z klincov ma núti čakať - On a bed of nails she makes me wait
A ja čakám bez Teba - And I wait without you

S Tebou alebo bez Teba - With or without you
S Tebou alebo bez Teba - With or without you

Cez búrku dosiahneme pobrežia - Through the storm we reach the shore
Dala si mi to všetko, ale ja chcem viac - You give it all but I want more
A čakám na Teba - And I'm waiting for you

S Tebou alebo bez Teba - With or without you
S Tebou alebo bez Teba - With or without you
Nemôžem žiť - I can't live
S Tebou alebo bez Teba - With or without you

A Ty sama si preč - And you give yourself away
A Ty sama si preč - And you give yourself away
A Ty si - And you give
A Ty si - And you give
A Ty sama si preč - And you give yourself away

Moje ruky sú zviazané - My hands are tied
Moje telo pohmoždené, ona ma má celého - My body bruised, she's got me with
Nie je čo vyhrať a - Nothing to win and
Nie je čo prehrať - Nothing left to lose

A Ty sama si preč - And you give yourself away
A Ty sama si preč - And you give yourself away
A Ty si - And you give
A Ty si - And you give
A Ty sama si preč - And you give yourself away

S Tebou alebo bez Teba - With or without you
S Tebou alebo bez Teba - With or without you
Nemôžem žiť - I can't live
S Tebou alebo bez Teba - - With or without you

S Tebou alebo bez Teba - - With or without you
S Tebou alebo bez Teba - - With or without you
Nemôžem žiť - I can't live
S Tebou alebo bez Teba - - With or without you

Learn Slovak - Slovak and Czech language

http://www.learnslovak.com/
This site is for all of you, who want to learn Slovak or Czech language...
That´s one of reason why I try all my things to do as well in Slovak.
Woudn´t you need something to explain so here I´m....:) :):)

Thank you ,

It went already 7 years till on March 2003 began invasion of Iraq, which was led by the United States, backed by British forces and others smaller countries. The invasion launched the Iraq War...
Paulo Coelho the world´s most popular novelist wrote an open lettert of praise for President Bush...
Even if till this time ran off 5 yeas, contain of his letter is always actual for all people on the world.....

Thank you, President Bush

March, 11 2003

Thank you, great leader George W. Bush.

Thank you for showing everyone what a danger Saddam Hussein represents. Many of us might otherwise have forgotten that he had used chemical weapons against his own people, against the Kurds and against the Iranians. Hussein is a bloodthirsty dictator and one of the clearest expressions of evil in today's world.

But this is not my only reason for thanking you. During the first two months of 2003, you have shown the world a great many other important things and, therefore, deserve my gratitude.

So, remembering a poem I learned as a child, I want to say thank you.

Thank you for showing everyone that the Turkish people and their Parliament are not for sale, not even for 26 billion dollars.

Thank you for revealing to the world the gulf that exists between the decisions made by those in power and the wishes of the people. Thank you for making it clear that neither José María Aznar nor Tony Blair give the slightest weight to or show the slightest respect for the votes they received. Aznar is perfectly capable of ignoring the fact that 90% of Spaniards are against the war, and Blair is unmoved by the largest public demonstration to take place in England in the last thirty years.

Thank you for making it necessary for Tony Blair to go to the British Parliament with a fabricated dossier written by a student ten years ago, and present this as 'damning evidence collected by the British Secret Service'.

Thank you for allowing Colin Powell to make a complete fool of himself by showing the UN Security Council photos which, one week later, were publicly challenged by Hans Blix, the Inspector responsible for disarming Iraq.

Thank you for adopting your current position and thus ensuring that, at the plenary session, the French Foreign Minister, Dominique de Villepin's anti-war speech was greeted with applause - something, as far as I know, that has only happened once before in the history of the UN, following a speech by Nelson Mandela.

Thank you too, because, after all your efforts to promote war, the normally divided Arab nations, at their meeting in Cairo during the last week in February, were, for the first time, unanimous in their condemnation of any invasion.

Thank you for your rhetoric stating that 'the UN now has a chance to demonstrate its relevance', a statement which made even the most reluctant countries take up a position opposing any attack on Iraq.

Thank you for your foreign policy which provoked the British Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, into declaring that in the 21st century, 'a war can have a moral justification', thus causing him to lose all credibility.

Thank you for trying to divide a Europe that is currently struggling for unification; this was a warning that will not go unheeded.

Thank you for having achieved something that very few have so far managed to do in this century: the bringing together of millions of people on all continents to fight for the same idea, even though that idea is opposed to yours.

Thank you for making us feel once more that though our words may not be heard, they are at least spoken - this will make us stronger in the future.

Thank you for ignoring us, for marginalising all those who oppose your decision, because the future of the Earth belongs to the excluded.

Thank you, because, without you, we would not have realised our own ability to mobilise. It may serve no purpose this time, but it will doubtless be useful later on.

Now that there seems no way of silencing the drums of war, I would like to say, as an ancient European king said to an invader: 'May your morning be a beautiful one, may the sun shine on your soldiers' armour, for in the afternoon, I will defeat you.'

Thank you for allowing us - an army of anonymous people filling the streets in an attempt to stop a process that is already underway - to know what it feels like to be powerless and to learn to grapple with that feeling and transform it.

So, enjoy your morning and whatever glory it may yet bring you.

Thank you for not listening to us and not taking us seriously, but know that we are listening to you and that we will not forget your words.

Thank you, great leader George W. Bush.

Thank you very much.

Iraq Body Count web counter

A preto Vám chcem povedať: ďakujem.

Legend of Narcissus

The Prologue from the book, The Alchemist-Paulo Coelho

The Alchemist picked up a book that someone in

the caravan had brought. Leafing through the pages,

he found a story about Narcissus.

The alchemist knew the legend of Narcissus, a youth

who daily knelt beside a lake to contemplate his own beauty.

He was so fascinated by himself that, one morning, he fell

into the lake and drowned. At the spot where he fell, a flower

was born, which was called the narcissus.

But this was not how the author of the book ended the

story.

He said that when Narcissus died, the Goddesses of the

Forest appeared and found the lake, which had been fresh

water, transformed into a lake of salty tears.

"Why do you weep?" the Goddesses asked.

"I weep for Narcissus," the lake replied.

"Ah, it is no surprise that you weep for Narcissus," they

said, "for though we always pursued him in the forest, you

alone could contemplate his beauty close at hand."

"But..... was Narcissus beautiful?" the lake asked.

"Who better than you to know that?" the Goddesses said

in wonder, "After all, it was by your banks that he knelt each

day to contemplate himself!!"

The lake was silent for some time.

Finally it said:

"I weep for Narcissus, but I never noticed that Narcissus

was beautiful. I weep because, each time he knelt beside my

banks, I could see, in the depths of his eyes, my own beauty

reflected."

"What a lovely story," the alchemist thought.

Legenda o Narcisovi

"Kto by to mohol lepšie vedieť než ty?" užasli Víly.
Stupnička chvíľu mlčala a potom povedala:
