What It Means To Be Poor....

"How you see the world. How you deal with it. That determines your real wealth."
– God (from the Joan of Arcadia TV series)

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"

"It was great, Dad."

"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.

"Oh yeah," said the son.

"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?", asked the father

The son answered:

"I saw that we have one dog and they had four.

We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.

We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.

Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.

We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.

We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.

We buy our food, but they grow theirs.

We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."

The boy's father was speechless. Then his son added...

"Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are."

When I found  this story, I was touched.... and I'm grateful to pass it along to all my friends as well.
I'd also like to take this moment and thank my parents, family, friends, and of course you....

The love and support you and others have shown me throughout my life and especially recent times of challenge and change reminds me how truly abundant I am, regardless of what life sends my way...

Prayer...

Lord, bless me this morning,
as I make my way
Please give me the laughter
to warm someone’s day
Be sure I am steady,
be sure I am wise
Be sure I am ready,
should struggles arise
If I shed a tear,
Lord, I pray you will see
I’m making the most
of the chores asked of me
As I strive to put
others’ needs ‘fore my own
Always stand beside me,
so I’m not alone.

N. Chomsky: "The struggle of prevention of development the military bases plus rocket system defences in Poland plus Czech republic has extraordinary meaning. In reality isn't exaggeration tell, that the fate of all living existence in this planet depends on those decisions"."

Rozhovor Jana Tamáše s prof. Noamem Chomskym.

"Zápas o zabránění rozvoje vojenských základen a systému raketové obrany v Polsku a České republice má mimořádný význam. Ve skutečnosti není nadsázkou říci, že osud druhů na této planetě závisí na těchto rozhodnutích".
